Grok Bot vs. Other AI Assistants: What It Can Do in 2026

Facts in this article come from the official Grok Bot help and docs pages (cursor.com/help/grok-bot and docs.x.ai), checked on October 30, 2026. Plans and offers can change, so confirm the current terms when you sign up. Images are AI-generated illustrations, not screenshots.
Most AI assistants are chat windows: you ask, they answer, and you copy the result somewhere else. Grok Bot is built around something different. Here’s a feature-by-feature look, using only what Grok Bot’s official docs say it does. We aren’t making claims about specific competitors, since their features change often; use this as a checklist when comparing.
| Feature | Grok Bot | What to check in other assistants |
|---|---|---|
| Where work happens | A persistent cloud computer with a browser, files and a terminal | Does it only reply in chat, or can it finish the task? |
| Memory | Named bots keep memory, files, sessions and preferences | Does it reset every conversation? |
| Multiple helpers | Bots run in parallel, message each other and share group chats | Can you run several assistants that coordinate? |
| Recurring work | Skills plus routines on a schedule or on events (Slack, GitHub, email, webhooks and more) | Can it run jobs while you’re away? |
| Apps | Connects apps like Gmail, Slack and Notion; uses the browser where there’s no app | Which apps does it connect to? |
| Safety | Comes back for approval on risky actions | Can you require approval before it sends or posts? |
| Devices | Desktop, iPhone and Android | Is it on the devices you use? |
Where Grok Bot stands out
The big difference is that a Bot does the work in your real tools instead of handing you a draft. It can also learn a workflow from a demonstration: walk it through a multi-step path once, and it can save it as a skill and rerun it on a schedule.
Trade-offs to know
- Usage comes from a weekly pool, and long multi-step jobs use more of it.
- Every bot on your account shares one computer, so don’t put a login there that one bot shouldn’t use.
- It isn’t on the Free or Plus plans of The X Subscription; you need Premium or higher after the trial.

How to try it free
- Free trial through a referral link: friends invited with a referral link get a 2-week (14-day) free trial of X Premium, which includes Grok Bot. A credit card is required, nothing is charged at checkout, and you get a reminder before the first charge. Cancel before the 14-day trial ends to avoid a charge (referral terms).
- Free and Plus plans don’t include Grok Bot. On The X Subscription, Grok Bot is included on Premium, Super and Ultra (source).
- Separately, Grok Bot’s own in-app trial is a usage credit (with a 7-day window). That one never turns into a paid plan. The 2-week referral trial does renew automatically unless you cancel (source, referral terms).
